I have always been an avid reader of
literature, religion, philosophy, psychology and metaphysics. Raised in
the Congregational Church, I am an active member of Unity Church,
and have also been a regular practitioner of yoga and meditation for
forty years. My interest in healing was sparked in my teens by the work
of Edgar Cayce and I am a lifetime member of the
Association for
Research and Enlightenment. I am now an ordained minister of the
Universal
Brotherhood Movement.
I attended Northfield School for Girls,
(founded by D.L. Moody to train young women to be the wives of
missionaries) and the University of Pennsylvania, an English major
specializing in T. S. Eliot, but also taking a business minor.
Actuarial work, market research and three children kept me occupied
until my husband’s career took us outside the US for eighteen years.
In England, I had surgery for colon
cancer, followed by a pulmonary embolism and a life-changing near-death
experience. In gratitude for my new healthy life, I completed my MA
at the University of Puerto Rico, writing on the behind-the-scenes
political power of women in Anthony Trollope’s Palliser novels. While
based in Germany, I trained as a learning disabilities specialist at the
Helen Arkell Institute, Surrey, UK. I had the joy of teaching gifted,
learning-disabled, multi-lingual children in Puerto Rico, Germany and
the US for fourteen years.
Shamanism came to me as I moved into
the wise woman time of life. It was an instant, exciting match and I
enrolled in Foundation for Shamanic Studies trainings one after another,
eventually completing the Advanced Three Year Course in 2001, as well as
Medicine for the Earth with Sandra Ingerman. I completed Shamanic
Teacher Training with Sandra in 2006.
Early in my shamanic training, at my
local New Age bookstore, Barbara Brennan’s book Hands of Light
literally fell into my hands. I was launched into my quest for that
rich training as well. The five-faceted
Barbara Brennan
School of Healing program includes not only a
wide range of energy healing protocols, but also personal growth,
psychology, creative arts and professional practices. It even gives all
of its students the gift of requiring us to have regular therapy
sessions. I graduated from the four year certification program in 1998,
and did some post-graduate teacher training.
Trainings with the
Sevenoaks Pathwork
Center, the Monroe Institute, Pat Fields,PhD, and
Perelandra Flower
Essences add to what I offer. Most recently, I completed a three year
program with the
Center for Intentional Living. Judith Schmidt, PhD and
Alexis Johnson PhD have blessed me with developing the skills of Deep
Listening and Deep Presence to be of help in healing pre-verbal trauma,
those entrenched woundings of early childhood.
My most recent area of study
has been Reiki. I can now offer you not only
Reiki healing, but also attunement as a Reiki I and Reiki II healer.
I cannot say enough about the gifts
these modalities have brought me: not only vibrant health and joy in
myself as I am; but also ease, grace and peace of mind in all the
complex relationships of marriage, children, in-laws, grandchildren,
associates, allies and clients. Truly, the more we heal ourselves, the
more that healing spreads out around us.
When my husband John retired in 2000,
we moved to beautiful Daufuskie Island, SC. We also enjoy golf, beach walks, visits to our
children and eight grandchildren, and international travel. |
