Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese system of energy healing.  It is based on the idea that pain and disease are caused by an imbalance and/or shortage of life energy, called ki in Japanese ( and chi in Chinese).  As a Reiki practitioner, I serve as a conduit of universal energy, allowing it to pass into your body.  Reiki is helpful for any type of ailment—physical, mental or emotional.  It is used most often to relieve acute or chronic pain, and can also help heal injuries such as broken bones and burns, and bring about improvement in chronic illnesses.   

The recipient lies fully clothed on the healing table and the practitioner places his/her hands on or near specific locations on the body.  There is only one protocol, understanding that the energy flows to where it is needed.  Reiki healing can also be sent at a distance.  A Reiki healing can last from 15 to 90 minutes, depending on need.   

As a Reiki Master, I have been trained and given attunements (initiation) by a Reiki Master in the tradition of Dr. Mikao Usui.  In addition to offering Reiki healing, I am able to offer training and attunement in Reiki I and II.

Reiki is classified by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine as one form of Biofield Medicine, which involves systems that use subtle energy fields in and around the body for medical purposes.  There is a growing body of research on Reiki, and quite a few hospitals are now offering Reiki to improve relaxation and recovery, and decrease pain and anxiety.

Bio-Mat

 
Either Brennan Healing Science or Reiki sessions on a Bio-Mat covered massage table. (For a detailed description of a healing session go to FAQ's.)  The Bio-Mat is a gently heated, amethyst crystal filled pad, which generates healing negative ions.  Research data on use of the  Bio-Mat has demonstrated that it promotes, among other benefits:
